Quick Answer
If something on this website is wrong or out of date, report it through the contact form. Send the page URL, what looks wrong, and an optional link to a public official source. Never send confidential tax records.
What to include
- The full URL of the page with the problem.
- The specific figure, date, link, or sentence that looks wrong.
- Optionally, a link to the official state or local source showing the correct information.
What never to send
This website does not need, ask for, or store any of the following, and you should not include them in a correction report or any other message:
- Social Security numbers, EINs, or any taxpayer identification number.
- Sales tax permit numbers or state tax account numbers.
- Login credentials for any tax portal.
- Card numbers, bank details, or payment information.
- Filed or draft returns, notices, assessments, or audit correspondence.
- Completed exemption or resale certificates.
- Customer lists or customer addresses.
If a report arrives containing any of the above, it is deleted rather than actioned, and you will be asked to resend without it.
How reports are handled
- Received. The report is read and matched to the affected page or pages.
- Checked against the official source. The relevant state revenue, taxation, comptroller, or equivalent agency source is opened. A competitor website or secondary aggregator is never used to settle a rate, threshold, deadline, or effective date.
- Corrected or explained. If the official source disagrees with this site, the page is corrected and its rate status, effective date, and checked date are updated. If the official source agrees, the report is closed and the page wording is clarified where the confusion is understandable.
- Logged. Material data corrections are recorded on the updates and data review log.
What is corrected quickly, and what is not
Wrong rates, broken or redirected official source links, incorrect jurisdiction assignments, and misstated effective dates are the highest priority, because those can affect money. Wording, layout, and formatting issues are queued behind them.
This website cannot answer account-specific questions, tell you whether you owe tax, confirm your filing deadline, or review your return. Those require the official agency or a qualified tax professional. See the data methodology for how rate figures are sourced and labelled, and the disclaimer for the limits of the information here.
Before You Rely on This Information
Use this page as a starting point, then check the official state revenue agency or filing portal before taking action.
